Light as a medium of transformation
As part of lightsON – Light projection in public spaces

In my artistic practice, light is at the centre as an immaterial, poetic and transformative medium. It permeates space, touches surfaces, connects architecture with movement, past with present. With my projections, I create temporary visual sculptures – fleeting images consisting of layers, colours, rhythms and structures that unfold in dialogue with the respective location.

Within the framework of lightsON, my goal is not only to illuminate spaces, but to make them sensually experienceable. I transform facades, squares or interiors through audiovisual compositions that combine elements from my painting, photography and generative image design. This creates abstract visual worlds that are both personal and open to interpretation – they leave room for emotion, memory and reflection.

The combination of analogue painting – often on large-format paper or canvas – with digital projection surfaces is essential for me. Many of my projections are based on painted image structures that are expanded, superimposed and set in motion through digital processes. This makes the visible dynamic and alive, and the location itself becomes part of the artistic narrative.

I see my light art not only as an aesthetic tool, but also as a communicative one: it creates encounters, opens up new perspectives on familiar places and invites people to see their surroundings with new eyes. Especially in urban spaces, light can become a bridge – between art and everyday life, between the individual and the community.

Licht als Medium der Transformation
Im Rahmen von lightsON – Lichtprojektion im öffentlichen Raum

In meiner künstlerischen Praxis steht Licht im Zentrum als immaterielles, poetisches und transformierendes Medium. Es durchdringt den Raum, berührt Oberflächen, verbindet Architektur mit Bewegung, Vergangenheit mit Gegenwart. Mit meinen Projektionen erschaffe ich temporäre visuelle Skulpturen – flüchtige Bilder, die aus Schichtungen, Farben, Rhythmen und Strukturen bestehen und sich im Dialog mit dem jeweiligen Ort entfalten.

Im Rahmen von lightsON verfolge ich das Ziel, Räume nicht nur zu beleuchten, sondern sie sinnlich erfahrbar zu machen. Ich transformiere Fassaden, Plätze oder Innenräume durch audiovisuelle Kompositionen, in denen sich Elemente aus meiner Malerei, Fotografie und generativen Bildgestaltung miteinander verbinden. Dabei entstehen abstrakte Bildwelten, die zugleich persönlich und offen für Interpretation sind – sie lassen Raum für Emotion, Erinnerung und Reflexion.

Die Verbindung von analoger Malerei – oft auf großformatigem Papier oder Leinwand – mit digitalen Projektionsflächen ist für mich essenziell. Viele meiner Projektionen basieren auf gemalten Bildstrukturen, die durch digitale Prozesse erweitert, überlagert und in Bewegung versetzt werden. So wird das Sichtbare dynamisch und lebendig, der Ort selbst wird Teil der künstlerischen Erzählung.

Ich verstehe meine Lichtkunst nicht nur als ästhetisches, sondern auch als kommunikatives Werkzeug: Sie schafft Begegnung, öffnet neue Perspektiven auf vertraute Orte und lädt Menschen ein, ihre Umgebung mit neuen Augen zu sehen. Gerade in urbanen Räumen kann Licht zum Brückenschlag werden – zwischen Kunst und Alltag, zwischen Individuum und Gemeinschaft.
